Hello there! It is so great to meet you. My name is Corey Walker and I am a speech-language pathologist. I started Pocket SLP with my smart and lovely wife Karen Lopez-Walker (also a speech-language pathologist, cool huh?) back in 2009. Thank you so much for checking us out.
Karen and I had the idea of making speech therapy apps when we first noticed our own son (then 3 yrs. old) constantly stealing our iPod Touch. And he wasn’t just taking it and pretending it was a car and tossing it across the room, he was actually using it and LEARNING FROM IT! Shortly thereafter, I began bringing my iPod Touch to my speech therapy room to see if my students loved it as much as my son. I couldn’t believe the HUGE spike in my clients’ willingness to participate. The results were unreal! (Also, I HATE paperwork. A lot. So I thought to myself, “What if I could create an application that gathered and sent detailed data for me so I didn’t have to take time away from the actual therapy?” That is when I realized that SLP apps are a win-win.)
Karen, myself, and my good friend Erik X. Raj (also a speech-language pathologist) are absolutely committed to thinking outside of the box, and it is our passion to continuously implement cutting-edge ideas that make each speech therapy session memorable, amusing, and effective.
Are you looking for new and exciting materials to use during your next speech therapy session that your clients/students will find irresistible? We are confident that you will be pleased with what we have to offer. Everything within the Pocket SLP catalog is jam packed with positive energy and optimistic fun that will help all children come closer to meeting their communication goals and objectives.
Sincerely,
Corey Walker, M.S., CCC-SLP
